The In Conversation Series
“That was one of the best evenings out I have ever had in this great city of ours.”
“I cannot see why any city which is proud of its sons and daughters wouldn’t want to do this.”
The Liverpool-based ‘In Conversation’ series sees personalities born in or with a strong connection to the city interviewed in front of a live audience about their life and career.
Between four twenty-minute interview sections the interviewee’s five favourite pieces of music are performed live on stage by five separate acts.
The evening also includes projected images and footage from the interviewee’s life and career to date – childhood photos sit side by side with TV and film clips to create a truly rounded portrait of the guest. The event closes with an audience Q&A.
This is an incredibly special experience for the interviewee, the audience and the chosen musicians and it is a delight to see the reaction of the guests to entirely new interpretations of the chosen songs.
To date the series has featured renowned music journalist and founding editor of Q Magazine Paul Du Noyer, Radio 2 DJ Janice Long, photographer and musician Mike McCartney, Liverpool football legends Ian St John and Jamie Carragher, comedian and impersonator Peter Serafinowicz, actors David Morrissey, Paul McGann and Stephen Graham, renowned crime writer Lynda La Plante, former Deputy Prime Minister Lord Heseltine and TV and comedy icon Ricky Tomlinson.
The series started in Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral and now has its home in the Concert Room of St George’s Hall, one of the city’s most magnificent and beloved buildings.
Interviews are conducted by Liverpool born actor and presenter Mike Neary.
“It made me proud to be a Scouser and the events portray the city in an outstanding way.”
“The series has given me some of the most memorable evenings of my life.”
“Thank you for what I can only describe as an enchanting evening. We had one of our best evenings out in this city by far.”
